White lace and Promises

Looks like white lace, feels like white lace, it's a pattern of white, cream and ivory and soft gray on a background of charcoal, dusky black, deep coffee brown, sandy tan and patina brassy details.
Its the pattern, it's the texture, and it is inviting and mysterious.

Soft black with white texture woven accents, this is  the caftan, a hippie boho classic. Vintage 60s  kaftan tunic top, is for men and women, and has flared long sleeves.

Distressed painted metal box,  stenciled and painted again and again in white and shades of green. The black faded and chipped stencil lends the coolest industrial thing. 

 Vintage Wedding, Bohemian 70s vintage lace dress has long sleeves and yards of gorgeous lace ruffles.

Simple and sturdy, this bent plywood chair is based on Arne Jacobsen's famous series 7 model. In 1955 he designed  his famous chair, and this is an industrial version of Danish Modern style. With its slim iron legs and sculptural curves, this vintage chair is a pleasure to sit in, and a pleasure to look at.

Spooky baby skirt, a charmer in a babydoll print with a ivory muslin elastic waist, made of  vintage photos of decrepit vintage dolls in dusty gold frames, in shades of ochre, pasty donut, spider web dust and broken cloud white.

and of course White rabbits lace thru the meadows of my mind. 3 sweet bunny rabbit brass and glass necklaces. Hop to it!!

Beach in a bottle

the deep blue sky the sand the driftwood and the fresh salt air.......
a West coast girl I am, and a West coast girl I will always be......

The sea is almost as old as the earth....oh, about 2 billion years old. The sea hasn't stayed in the same places we see it today........it has moved over and covered all the continents at one time or another.......and again and again and again......
This is why there is limestone, and fossil fish and shells, far inland in our era, the Pleistocene. The sea is salty because of dissolved minerals from the rock on the continents,igneous rocks and the crumbling of mountains, the ocean's own floor, and all the gas and the volcanic smoke and vents all over the earth.

I gather shells, and pebbles and sand.....as I'm at the edge of the continent and the sea on the Left Coast.

This is a salvage assemblage necklace with a pottery shard......

brass circle and patina rings, all vintage, paired with a real clam shell with a natural hole....

All the shells, the sand, the pebbles and the tumbled beach glass...are hand gathered.

I don't fake-tumble glass or the pottery shards....they are the real deal! The  tiny glass bottles close with a cork, and hang from vintage beading wire, and 2 silverplated rings.
Remove the necklace when swimming or bathing...the cork can be removed.

The starfish, fish, anchor charms and the rings, and the necklaces are all lead free, and some are vintage. Most of the findings are made in the USA, so I'm happy about that. The silverplated or the brass chains close with a lobster style clasp, each is 24" long, and the necklaces hang about 14" -  16". 3 hours of ocean.......

It's Black and White.

Often, simple and spare is best.

Did you know plain ol' baking soda has cleaning and deodorizing properties? It does. Here's a list of 27 ways to use it.


Good ol' soap.
Soap comes many forms....liquid, and in bar form. It's biodegradable! Back in the Olde Days, we used to wash cloth baby diapers and baby clothes in Ivory Flakes. It was soap. yes, us olde moms used to do laundry with a special soap just for baby. Sadly, Ivory Flakes no longer exists.
Don't use any formulas with petroleum distillates. This is a big issue, and more so, if your Home is a motorhome since the petroleum ingredients will ruin a lot of the plumbing and seals.
(Petroleum distillates include mineral spirits, kerosene, white spirits, naphtha, and Stoddard solvent. All household products that contain 10 percent or more of petroleum distillates, or benzene, toluene, xylene, or turpentine, are required to have hazard warnings by regulations under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.)

buy cake soap like Ivory. Don't buy soaps (detergents) and other products with triclosan. Triclosan is that ANTIBACTERIAL crap that is in every damn product now!! It is real bad stuff. More info about triclosan and other nasties


Lemon juice one of the best little remedies for dirt and yuk, It has natural acids, so it does battle against most household bacteria. mmmm Lemon juice !

Borax ...as in 20 Mule Team Borax. Works great as an insecticide, a deodorizer, mold and mildew killer, general cleaner. It is strong and needs to be handled with care, and kept from pets and kids. Just click this and spend a lazy 1/2 hour reading.

Washing soda like Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda at most grocery stores. It's great for grease-cutting, removing greasy spots, wax and lipstick, and zaps stinky odors like baking soda does. It's harmful to fiberglass, aluminum and waxed floors, because it strips wax and is really strong stuff. Read all about it here.
What is it?


White Vinegar will de-grease, zap mildew, odors, and attack some stains and that pesky yellow waxy build-up. Leave out the detergent in these recipes.


Alcohol-The drinking kind. Got some wine or vodka just laying around? going bad? We use it to clean the countertops. It disinfects.
