what a great idea ! a view for when the action on the field gets boring...and if we're talking sports...and I am...it's always boring.
 Wow...look at the blue water...the line of low hills...the ships on the bay....

 Endymion was a handsome shepherd boy of Asia Minor, the mortal lover of the moon goddess  Selene. Each night he was kissed to sleep by her.

I ride my bike....

Long ago my bike's name was Elvis. She, (I know, but my bike was a girl) was repainted a frosty green, had a big metal wire basket, fat tires and wide fenders....and Elvis handpainted in man-handwriting on the front fender.

This 1930s model was my bike for awhile, but it sold. ugh. I have the pictures tho! So like a heartsick soldier pining for his girl back home, I carry this picture around, and made it my funkomavintage logo.

I also figured out how to print it myself...For this project, a tiny print of my bike, a miniature  Schwinn with a big metal basket, fat tires, wide fenders, cruiser handlebars, and a kickstand on the back tire became my  first project with the old girl....

The first pins I made....are appliqued on some vintage cabin design outdoorsy cotton...and as a cameo on some sweeter girly calico and chintz.

But always toggling back and forth from fancy to rustic, I combined coffee bag burlap, vintage ultrasuede, wool tweed, and a coffee-dyed picture made into 1.5" x 3"  pins for the lapel, the fedora or summer straw hat,or, in the case of Mark's sartorial choices....pinned to the lapel of his WWll pea coat.
We went to a real fun party in Seattle a couple of weeks ago, and 4 people ordered a Coffee burlap and Bike pin...I just finished a small batch, and they're ready to ride on your location of choice.

Vintage Schwinn Bicycle Time

The days are longer, the days are even getting a bit warmer...it's time to get the bicycle out and go for a ride....
Saddle shoes by Bass, good ol' classic! These are made in Maine, and in other American factories.

A sweet pair of wingtip 2 strap Mary Janes...

Worn with a classic pair of vintage Levis denim jeans........

I took a picture of my 30s Schwinn bicycle and turned it into a little picture and made some fabric pins using vintage fabric and little bits of lace...Each one is handmade by me ...mostly all sewn by hand...but all handmade...

(I moved the little lace trimmed one to my funkomavintage shop)

Zeit Bike.....

is upon us....Coming sooon.....
Oh Joy....Will ....finally something happen in Prison Yard Plaza besides peeing in the bushes (that wasn't me...)
But Mark's entry for Zeit Bike.......was DENIED !!!!!!
I guess his design wasn't flashy enough.....it is just subtle......

************* The Format & The Rules *************
The Zeit-Bike Contest is being organized in conjunction with other Bike to Work activities in Pierce County scheduled during the month of May. National Bike to Work Week is May 14-18, and will be observed in Pierce County.

Zeit-Bikes will be judged on May 9th and the top five contenders will be shown at the Tacoma Art Museum on Third Thursday, May 17. The best bike will be judged from this group and the top winner will receive a prize of $200. The second and third place winners will also walk away with prizes that have yet to be determined, but promise to be enviable.
The Rules:

1. You must start with an actual bicycle of some kind as the base form. You supply the bike.
2. Individuals or groups can re-form a bike.
3. The bicycle must still be mobile after it is transformed. (Not a vehicle you’d want to ride to Seattle, perhaps, but 4. something that could be pushed down the street to get it into the Tacoma Art Museum.)
4. Your Zeit-Bike must be ready for exhibition to the general public by Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
