Tiny House, Vintage Camper and the Front Door

Sometimes you just don't want a big big big Xmas tree. Sometimes you want a tiny one. Sometimes you want something made of reclaimed pallet wood and a bit of burlap.
Have I got a thing for you! yes yes yes.

Burlap and old wood is always a favorite combination of mine. The Winnie has burlap curtains... and old wood. Yeah.
Back in the mid-70s, my house on Dry Creek Road had a boring wall behind the wood stove so I thought that would be the perfect place to put a covering of old barn boards. We lived in the country and old barn wood was not a problem. to find.
So I cajoled the old ex into seeing my vision (a common occurence), and saw and nail we did.
Recently, I was staring at the pile of coffee burlap bags in a downtown coffee shop, and staring at the huge coffee burlap bag I use to set up my pictures with, and staring at the tall stack of pallets we collected.
Oh no. Oh yes.

Of course our steps are pallets and we love them!

So, I designed a small tree, a Christmas tree if you wish, but you can put it on the wall all year long, or on the front door.
You can decorate it. or not.
I painted it rustic white and added burlap.
And if that wasn't clever enough, I designed it to fold up for storage.
Yes! I include a strip of vintage cotton muslin to tie a bow and to make a bow on the treetop if you wish. Feast your eyes.

You can decorate it, or put tiny LED lights around it, or leave it up all year for some rustic cheer, just plain and simple. Suitable for inside or out, but protect it from rain, snow and sunshine.

Here's a vintage Hawaiian dress I sold to a bridesmaid, for a wedding that is cheery and easy for a bride's attendants to both look lovely and to buy an affordable dress that can be worn again and again....

This vintage 60s Pomare Hawaiian dress in bright orange and pink is on the lovely lady, 4th from the right...there's a gal half-hidden by the guy in the green shirt. All those dresses are just gorgeous!

 This lovely vintage shirt dress....sure looks like it found the perfect new home.  Kristin read "Charming and Sunny, this light as air blue plaid 60s shirtwaist day dress......is ready for some warm days....." and jumped in. She bought another dress in this same order.
She had an Etsy shop making adorable pet tags. I bought one for my cute doggie, but she's now retired from this venture.

The Recycled Life

Continuing on reusing and reclaiming, we bought this old tent last summer and since it came with no poles, we saw.....Tote Bags and Aprons!


Last summer was long and warm and dry....just how I like 'em.

Found the tent....and laid it out to cut it to usable strips and shapes.....

The product testing phase.....how will waxed cotton wash? It washed the color and most of the wax away!

A few choice stenciled pieces will find their way to tote bags, market bags, and a few aprons too.

Here's the old nail bag.....

and.....the finished bag....perfect for toting groceries, your CSA share......or a ukelele....

I really like how the old nail bag makes the perfect place to stash stuff on the outside.... and other stuff inside, secured with an unused old stock 40s military metal zipper.

that sucker is sturdy!

the tent had yellow twill ties to fasten the tent to the poles....so I reused them for the zipper pull, and to tie the nail bag closed and on the back, I made a loop to hold the nail bag ties....just for fun!

Here's where the cutting and planning and sewing happens....inside.

made.ready.for.some. sun.

having a good time...taking blah blah boring ol' black t-shirts...jeans no one wants to wear anymore...Let's make shorts, you know, cut offs. Blue denim, and stencils....and vintage redline indigo denim...The sailor's life for me !
