Tomatoes...ripe ripe ripe...

Well it took them long enough....finally the last week of September !! oodles of tomatoes are ripening in my garden ! Yippee !

I am in love with the plumpy fluted curves.....so adorable.
I never ever buy out of season tomatoes....and only buy vine ripened in season, when I do buy...This means I will go without tomatoes, if I don't grow them myself.

 Above is a Cherokee Purple......and below, is a very unripe Cherokee...

I planted Cherokee Purple for the taste and the color and odd bumpy shape, Mr Stripey because, it's called Mr Stripey, and the sweet tart flavor...... a Willamette typical round salad tomato that has a short season and so I thought it would ripen in mid July....Ha ha ha ha ha ah aha.
And also...Brandywine, which is long season.
What was first to ripen? Cherokee Purple !

Now they're coming about 4 to 6 a day.
I'm eating them as fast as I can...I slice them into quarters, and sprinkle them with pepper....
Cherokee is definitely a favorite for the look...and the taste....and when you slice them sideways .....they're red and green inside !


Here's a clump of Mr Stripey.....these ripen to stripes of  deep pink and yellow....

Here's 2 Willamettes....pretty normal supermarket type tomatoes...they do taste great tho..........and can you find the Cherokees....I bet you can !

Look at the beauty of this little Japanese eggplant......and behind it in shiny red, is a Romanian Sweet Pepper.
the cap on the eggplant looks like a Fairy's cap !

...Oh these little peppers are sweet and spicy and amazing eaten chopped...raw, or sauted lightly......that seems to intensify the sweet taste, and the little edges become charred....
Just heaven!

I'm enamoured of cameos....so the oval frame, and with the teeth ..comes a little morbid anatomy...a little taxidermy....gothic Jewelry.

Who Wore It Better ?

I know, that because I work in "fashion" that I'm supposed to drool all over The Fashion Runways, and those shows on TV about Fashion...YUK ! I don't really care about what's new, or Missoni at Target...I do enjoy vintage fashion shows...and denim.
I really am annoyed at those insipid "Who Wore It Better" things that bombard my face every time I look at the news on teh internetz....

Here's Billy Bob and Angelina...wearing Levis and not anything else.......I'm thinking they wear Levis better....
