when you wanna wear things that are very comfy, and just a bit more dressed up.....going out to lunch after a shopping stroll thru the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.....no need to dress like it's a workday, but who wants to wear uggy old sweats? Yet, comfort is the Theme of the Day.

another in a continuing series about what to wear when you aren't twee, and aren't in the nursing home either......search either ...granny chic...or...old lady chic.

a handmade skirt of secondhand tshirts, lace and a rose....
with a fluffy vintage red crinoline under adds some sweet fancy......

a little red lace will peek out from the hem....



add a vintage Vancouver BC scarf...you can tie 2 ends around your neck and 2 ends around to the back...first fold into a triangle...that will make this no sew scarf-top make sense!

So. an easy skirt with and elastic waistband, a classic denim jacket, with pockets! this vintage Levis jacket always looks good on everyone on the planet.
Accessories....wear a simple tank top and a pendant, or try tying a big scarf around the lady bumps for a top....or if you are of a certain age (like me)
Just tie it on the purse....

and a very vintage indigo Levis jacket....always a Good Choice over almost anything...

So I was thinking...

and feeling grateful that so many people were wondering why I was "closing"...I can't continue to work 60 hours a week.....But I am still here!
Most Sats and Suns only since it's just me 99.99% of the time.


And I was thinking of what it is I shall have for sale in the future..
I love certain modern labels and moods......
To name a few...
Ralph Lauren because I love the classics.....
But a label isn't really important unless you find one that "speaks" to you.......

I really like ....
Classiques Entier, INC, Bebe, Jessica McClintock, Young Edwardian, J Peterman, Ralph...some Tommy, some Abercrombie, some AE, and some whatevah labels that are just good style.




Moods -- more steampunk....more lingerie...and much more of things I've designed and made....






Trench coats, cashmere anything, angora anything, leggings!! a great sweater, a white shirt, worn-out denim, and plaid!
Especially tartan.
I love linen. I love wool. I love cotton. I love silk. I love leather.
And I love the "fakes" if they are good fakes.








Boots, tennies, great MaryJanes and fun sandals for the 4 months of sandal weather...
A flattering dress ...A warm and interesting coat and cute little jackets.



I love suits, they aren't my style,I love a woman who wears one without looking like a matron at the prison....
but I love a man in a suit jacket and a pair of jeans...



I love menswear for women, and great tailoring for men. There's nothing like a guy unafraid to wear a snappy hat or an interesting scarf....


And I love the wacky stuff too......

Because John and Jane become very Dull if they are always perfect...


I feel like Life is so serious most of the time...
we got some big big issues...

Fashion is not what I care about......but I love to have fun with Style!
I want my clothes to do their job and to look and feel good...for me, for you.




I may only have a few months left on my lease here but I want to continue to provide these things....
Sparkly things.....party clothes........
And I'll always have great things for guys who want to step up and out of a t shirt and jeans from time to time...

Buy Green in the Northwest.....

I do see many clothing designers using organic and bamboo and such for new clothes and that's great!!
My choice is to remake from used and vintage, and tossed away stuff.
There is an endless supply....of stuff....

I especially love building with reclaimed wood, windows and such...I do realize any new building must be energy efficient and non-toxic and new technologies can provide that.....here's a link to LEED....

Fashion Is Mostly Boring.....

I haven't been excited about fashion since the 80s.....that was the last decade/time passage that showed some new shape, color combos......blah blah......
it was bound to happen......unless you are Little Edie or Stevie Nicks.......how many ways can you wear/wrap/style a dress/skirt/blouse..........

Though I've always dressed my own way....My Body Is A Canvas......

I've been thinking a lot about this subject for a year or 2 or 3.......I'm older now.....and many things I've been loving and wearing for decades are either:
boring,
don't feel good,
seem silly on a grandma.

I am curvier than ever.......tho I have just lost the peachy bloom of youth
(it's an illusion anyway....it's just chemicals.....it's just that faker Estrogen.....it's a temporary phase, girlfriend, Word Up)
I went au naturel in the tub last night I don't care.......others may have been horrified.....and amused .....all at the same time......

So Fashion Is What snotty arrogant people say it is.
Style is as personal as your fingerprint.
I read the big glossy magazines and that's fine....but ultimately boring.
I want to dress like Miss Havisham. I want to wear velvet in July and push-up bras.
Now they call it Steampunk.

What I don't like wearing anymore......and this rather breaks my heart.....
I don't want to wear denim jeans.....I have/had the worlds largest denim jean collection. They don't allow me to move around anymore.......They pinch.
I've been saying for the last few years:
Knits Are My Friend.
They hug all my curves and move with me, not 4 seconds after me.
Although I have a glorious unlined stomach, I look rather silly in a crop top unless I'm at the beach. Same with shorts (well I gave up shorts years ago, unless I'm gardening).


I don't wear heels higher than 2.5 inches.....I get vertigo.
I could really really care less what's the IN Fashion......in fact, the more I see it around, the lesssss I wanna wear it.

At Steve's memorial the other day I wore this:
My favorite Betsey Johnson top with the Guns Print. (Scroll down on this link!!)
A long Morticia-like black knit skirt.
Under that skirt I wore an Art Deco rayon skirt, also long and just a bit of the print poked out of the walking slit that I turned to the front instead of wearing the black skirt the way the maker intended.
Over the Betsey Johnson and the long skirts, I wore a black angora 80s curvy sweater dress. I turned the V neck from the back to the front.......also, not as designed !
Then to relieve some of the black, I wore turquoise shorty 80s cowboy boots. And, my burgundy velvet 60s Edwardian style long coat......I braided my hair and combed the crimp gently for just that excellent romantic look.
I wore olive, black, turquoise, gray and burgundy.
