but it doesn't have to be blue...
I love Dress A Day blog.....Erin is so darn smart and she sews...yes, she really really sews.
For decades I was the only young person who sewed. If I met someone my age who sewed,
she was um, in a cult of some type. Up until about a year or 2 ago NO ONE sewed ! except grannies.
Sew (ha ha) I see this Lettered Raincoat...and Erin loves letters...she has a real important job at The Dictionary Company.....and I emailed her about it...
I wrote her:
Hi Erin,
Yup....but I thought of you!
Tressie
And the attentive darling she is.....she mailed back:
I love it! Probably will have to buy it. So I should thank you, I think!
Off to watch the auction ...
Thanks!
Erin
so....I'm an enabler........My best friend Jen wants her hair bright green....
So I'm gonna bleach it and then dye it for her......
Please don't ask me for anything unless you really really want it...
you just might get it.....

there are the others... who have also sewn all these years... but without the blogs and the comments so maybe it just wasn't so obvious. Maybe they've sewn their whole lifetime...but maybe it was embarassing to sew and... maybe it was incredibly embarassing to wear what you damn sewed! I had to sew an outfit each summer. Parents way of making sure i stayed out of trouble?! I don't know, but i did it. And i'm stronger for it. i guess. now looking back on it all... i'd kill to still have my showpiece: a 3-tiered butterfly print skirt with matching halter top complete with... ssssssssssshawl! Hand fringing ain't for the faint of heart! and all this from the kitschbitsch that just asked you to hem her teenager's school jeans... Thanks again and I owe you a beer or two or tree.
I exaggerate for comedic effect...really, it seemed as though no one else sewed ...who was under the age of 55 ! Now, every one and their pet rat sews ! your showpiece sounds sweet and I love butterflies...remind me to show you my butterfly embroidered tank top from the actual early 70s !
