Wooly. Wild. Dreams.

end of the year and the beginning of the new.......
time to button up to stay warm, and dream Dreams for the new year.....
Here's the first recycled Harris Tweed jacket-to-bag I've finished. It's paired with vintage forest green corduroy, and lined in moss and cream ticking. A front pocket of the jacket is now a pocket on the front of the bag!
The pics are q&d...since I was heading out to a dinner party where I gave this bag to my MIL.
She's one of my biggest fans since I made an honest man of her son. Ha ahahahahhah.
anyhoo. Many more bags to come......

so I asked for some holiday music...

and Mark put Aqualung....My God on the turntable....
well, fine then.
(Jethro Tull)
be careful of what you ask for around here, for you shall surely get it.....

sooo...
my other 2 favorite xmas/holidays songs are.....Elvis. The skinny Elvis.
I picked these 2 songs for my dad's jukebox business...we'd go to the record shop on Main Street, and buy 45's to stock the jukes he had all over Napa county. Every month we'd make the route to change out the records. That was back in the day when the categories were Rhythm and Blues, Country and Western, Popular Music, Gospel, Show Tunes, and Rock and Roll.
yeah. Good.

You put these 2 songs on the Hi-Fi, stick a martini in my hand and within 60 seconds you have a dancing crying mess on yr hands.
But it's worth it.

I just listed a new peacoat...a vintage pea coat, that is.

in no particular order...my top 5 fave xmas songs.....

I love the lyrics..."please come home for Christmas, if not for Christmas, by New Years night"
and any song that can and will rhyme "Salutations with friends and relations"....well wtf! that's literate.
because this holiday, where it is celebrated....is happy and so damn sad all at the same time....
it's the ridiculous mythology of family and I do think it's ALSO the rotten stinking weather...and until the Solstice, the literal darkest days of the year.

The version I really really love is on a compilation of Austin Rhythm and Blues Christmas songs...the best, and I mean the best comp of xmas songs evah! Angela Strelhi sings the most fantastic version of Please Come Home for Christmas....
Lou Ann Barton sings on it too. with some Thunderbirds...buy this album. Now. You will not regret it. Curiously I can't find any of the songs on youtube...but there's the link...

And it has Charlie Sexton. nuff said.
so here's what's on the utube.

Charles Brown, Please Come Home For Christmas.

I did find my 3 fave versions there tho. fuck Mariah Carey. Here's my version of any song Mariah sings...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
annoying little beeeyoch.

so in the next few days...more xmas songs I love.
Now go buy the Austin xmas album.

pretty! thatyountvillegirl makes it for you........

Lite Brite Making things with light....

Bozo the Clown!
hey kids...spell naughty words in the dark...

Hey, I want a fake cow that gives me fake milk! I'd fill it with vodka and orange juice.

and yes...I had a Chatty Cathy...

and of course...Tressy! with secret growing hair...
yeah, it's me!

Greatest Hits of Last December!

We 3 Kings of Orient are...
trying to smoke a rubber cigar.....

What the hell is this place? This is Jerusalem? The trees appear to be made of a substance that only grows in Florida. This is turning out to be a very very Jew-mas Holiday.

Look!
Is he the new King of the Jews! He must be the new ruler....because we are horribly under-scale!

Stop fidgeting! I just combed your wool!

Happy Holidaze ! funkoma vintage
new things will be available later tonight...check the blog/facebook/twitter ...shop on etsy....

11 minutes of time for 3 songs

3 people that I've known for a long time ...one I've known for 26 years, one I've known for 15 years.....one I've known for 7 years.....have died.
all within the last 6 weeks.
My sadness is tiny compared to the grief of their families.
 This makes me....feel very strange.
Almost as if I'm only entitled to feel strange.
So I went to find some....music, some art, so to place it in its place.
