Open and Closed.....wait..reverse that.

closed on E 26th........
Opening at 712 Broadway....the Rampart Building....

downstairs.....with several dealers of antiques and funky stuff just the way you like it......

look for funkoma in the back

we don't know the hours /days yet...and opening will be about June 1st or so...........
oh boy!
Yes I'll be neighbors with the Silverstone.....Glenna, Phil and Charlotte. PSP. Ida's .....ha ha ! The Helm.......The Porn Star Condos.......oh you people are in for some BIG fun now.....I get the whole downtown all to myself to annoy the living shit outta yuppies ! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

*************************
this rather explains it> We won't be like alan's little Alandom......we are unorganized and pay little attention to convention......
we have decades of antique/funky stuff/party giving experience.....and boy, it feels good to be going back home again.....the 2 main partners have all been downtown for years but were on hiatus.......
As we get our act together more next week I'll just keep blogging and announcing what the Hay is going on......
we're making it up as it goes along!

I am very glad to hear that something will be opening in that space.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you do realize that yuppies are kind of right in your market, right? I mean, I would love to buy your stuff but since I'm not a yuppie I don't have discretionary dollars to spend on things other than food, gas, and the kids.

I would think you would be embracing the Mecca condo crowd.

I don't cater to yuppies ! Where in the world did you get that idea? The antiques dealers might, but they are big boys and girls and can speak for themselves. No, the condo crowd means nothing to me....they don't wear used funky clothes and they don't buy kitsch....they like other stuff, and there are tons of stores that cater to them. They can find everything they want at the mall...or Posh. I'm perfectly ok with my niche in life. I am the Best Me I Can Be.....irreverent and disdainful of authority.......
I just do my thing, maybe you like my thing ..maybe you don't.....it's a big big big world and there's room for all views...
I brown-nose to no one !
If I have ever given anyone the impression that I cater to yuppies I seriously need to work on my image..apparently I have been entirely too boring...tho I get tons of compliments from all kinds of people that have visited funkoma in the last year.....you're too young to remember the original Rampart.....Now that Gay disco/bondage funk club was offensive....and we liked it like that....

OK well let me put it a little more bluntly: If you are a) young enough to pull it off, b) thin enough c) in possession of enough discretionary money to purchase funky vintage clothing, you may be a Young Urban Professional, or likely to become one within a year or two of graduating from your liberal arts college.

The downtown arts scene and yuppies go together like....cash registers and money. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, then claim it was someone else's.

I just do my own thing. The money always comes. I don't cater to the flavor of the month and I'm ok with that.....I'm not complaining that I have no business.....I ran out of room because I have too much business.....and besides I just need more room. I could care less what other people are doing.
I do my own thing....people seem to love it and I can't be, nor do I want to be, all things to all people.
Half of my sales (this time) come from people under 30s. 1/4 are from dealers/stylists/theater. 1/4 from all others.
Remember....Follow Your Bliss......I'm following mine.
The downtown arts scene will get along just fine with me or without me..I was downtown before half of the artsy people were even in Tacoma.I did fine then.....I'll do fine now. No one besides me and Glenna sold vintage clothes in Tacoma ...for years !
Like I said, the folks that like my Style and my eye, will find me. I can't be buying and stocking things I don't like. Why should I? And if anyone gets their panties in a knot because I'm outspoken, they can just go shop someplace else. It's OK with me ! They can just wander over to Junior Bizarre or inside Alans basement...or up the street to Glenna's or all the way down to Julie's.....or up to 6th Ave.Each of us have our own eye..our own focus.....It's a Good Thing.
